How long will it take to paint my home/business?
The time it takes to complete a painting project can vary greatly depending on the size and scope of the job. However, we will let you know the completion time before beginning and we always work diligently to complete each project on time.
What type of interior paint products do you use?
All paints are not created equal! We only use premium, professional-grade products from PPG™, Sherwin Williams™, and Benjamin Moore™, all designed specifically for exterior and interior surfaces. Our top-of-the-line paints will provide excellent coverage with minimal effort and last up to ten years in all types of climates without fading or chipping!

A: Yes, we offer a 3 year warranty on our workmanship.
How do I know when it's time to paint my house?
A: Paint will start showing signs of wear. Paint will begin fading. When you seeing gaps or shrinking cracked caulk is cracked, color fading or you're getting ready to put your house on the market or just want a color refresh, it's time to repaint.
How often should I paint the interior of my house?
A: The interior of your home typically doesn’t need painting as often as the exterior. However, some walls in your home need to be repainted more frequently than others due to daily wear and tear. Follow these simple painting frequency rules to keep your paint looking fresh in every space and on every surface inside your house.
Living Room & Dining Room: You will want to paint your house interior every 5 to 7 years.
Kitchen & Bathroom: You will likely notice that your kitchen and bathroom will need fresh paint every 4 years, sometimes longer depending on care.
Bedrooms: Kids’ bedrooms usually need repainted every 2 to 3 years due to wear. Adult bedrooms are less frequently used and can last longer from 3 to 5 years.
Hallways: Have professional painters paint these spaces every 2 to 3 years to keep your paint looking fresh and new.
How often should I paint the exterior of my house?
A: Most experts say that you’ll need to paint every five to ten years, depending on factors such as where you live, climate and weather, and the previous paint job. Also, keep in mind that every surface will be a little different. For example: Wood siding – every 3 -7 years, or every 4 years if it’s stained.
How often should I paint my ceilings?
A: Generally, ceiling paint thrives for about twice as long as vertical wall paint. This means that you will typically only have to paint your ceilings every 10 years or so.
What type of exterior paint products do you use?
A: High quality, PPG™, Sherwin-Williams™ and Benjamin Moore™. If you prefer another brand, we can use the products of your choice. However, we encourage you to learn why we select these brands before requesting a change.
What is the difference between high quality paint and low quality paint?
A: High quality paint has more pigment and resin, and though it may look the same as the low quality paint, there are big differences in the ingredients and in long-term performance and overall look and coverage. Never skimp by using low quality paint, it can cost you more in the long-run by needing to paint sooner.
How do you know how many coats to use?
A: It depends on the current condition of the substrate and the colors being painted. We have some of the best painting contractors that can help you make the right decision. Southern Paint Austin will always recommend the appropriate number of coats for your paint project, guaranteed.
What if I don’t like the color selected, can I change it?
A: Would it be an additional cost? Yes, it is ultimately the homeowner’s responsibility for any color choices, and there is an additional cost for a color change. The additional cost is determined by how much of the job is completed, along with the cost of the additional paint.
What is the best weather for painting?
A: The air, the surface and the paint should all be at the manufacturer’s recommended temperature, which is usually above 40 ° F.
How do I prepare my rooms for your visit?
A: You will need to remove any small items from the tops of shelves and pictures from your wall. We can move the larger items towards the center of the room and properly cover and protect furniture/items. For safety reason it is important to de-clutter any space where the painters will be working and the paths to get there.
